Ohm Studio is very impressive to say the least. It is a mere glimpse into our very near future of music. With everything going on as far as technology and music is concerned, Ohm Studio bridges the gap that has always been missing. True, real-time collaborations between musicians from one side of the the world to the other. Record is now available for Reason. You can get the software as a standalone application or a duo package that integrates fully with Reason giving you audio recording capabilities. It is about time! It is now easier than ever to add audio tracks into Reason by simply creating a new audio track and arming it for recording. I always felt that this was the one feature Reason was missing when I started using it back in 2001, I think it was Reason 1.0? Although the feature is great I still find it very disappointing that it took Propellerheads this long to add the feature.

One thing is not to be confused when you purchase and install Record along side your Reason installation. From that moment on you will be using Record and Reason is essentially a plug in inside of Record. It appears to integrate seamlessly from what I see. For some reason this is just something that upsets me because at one point I was a die hard Reason user but was forced to look into another way to record audio. I heard about ReWire and found out that Cakewalk’s Sonar had it. I had to under go a huge learning curve just to learn the software just so I could integrate audio tracks with Reason. Now, 9 years later I see a feature they should have had back then! Well, all that aside… I am sure many users will be happy with Record. Time to start saving up!

The new SONAR V-Studio 100 by Cakewalk is taking portable music production to another level. Cakewalk’s resident producer Lil Shamrock recorded a beat on the spot and then threw down the gauntlet, challenging the MCs in attendance to come up and record their rhymes on the fly while the beat was playing back from the V-Studio 100’s SD card.

This is a brief description on how to use the step sequencer and Sonar 7 Producer Edition. I took some screenshots and gave you a step-by-step breakdown on how to use the step sequencer.
