I agree... It makes it a bit stressful to have to rely on something like a laptop at a live gig. For some reason that technology puts some serious stress on performers. I am still looking to get my hands on the Maschine so I can form an opinion for real world use and live use you know? Right now, my favorite combo is Ableton Live and the MPC1000. The ease of use and work flow in Ableton makes it a dream to create tracks in minutes instead of what can be hours on the MPC. Don't get me wrong... I can slice and dice with the best of them on the MPC but when your in the creative mode you just want to keep moving with the flow. You don't want to have to stop vibing because you need to spend a few minutes slicing samples. Its much quicker in Ableton. Plus, they sync beautifully together. I have a friend who uses the MV8800 and that thing also seems like a beast too... Just haven't had much time behind the wheel. I'd give Ableton a test drive if I were you :) Thanks for stopping by!

I've found myself in the same predicament. I also own an MPC 1000 and the sequencing is frustrating. Copying tracks is time consuming and cumbersome. I also desire an easy interface for track based sequencing. While the Maschine has the functionality of the MV8800 it lacks a true hardware interface. When preforming live I would like to avoid relying on my Laptop. The MV8800 also has a mastering suite and if you come from an MPC the feel is very similar. Ive never been able to use the Maschine but I have no doubt that it is a true contender.

There are many ways to achieve this but I need you to be a little bit more clear. Basically, you can get the realistic drums by playing them in realistic without quantize settings on. This will give the live shuffle feel as long as your timing isn't way off. Another good trick is to find a drum loop you like and layer over it and then remove the drum loop leaving your own pattern in tact, if that makes sense? Now, on the Motif... if you record any data you can go into the edit screen and edit the velocity of each note one-by-one. This might be what your looking for? If I am not mistaken the Motif has a feature build in that will shuffle the velocities of your midi data? If you need further assistance, try be a bit more clear with what your trying to do and I'll be glad to help! Thanks for visiting the site!
